Not-for-profit Huntsville Music Scene is excited to announce our new fundraiser, Huntsville City Schools Band Fund!

You’re invited to participate with us in our VERY FIRST fundraising opportunity this coming January 13th, 2024 in collaboration with popular Huntsville progressive-soul band, Quantaphonics, and The Camp at MidCity, for the inaugural CHILL FEST - A Winter Music & Arts Festival at The Camp!

WHAT, WHY & HOW?

Huntsville is home to many hardworking, award-winning city high school bands. Most people don’t know that Huntsville City School fine arts programs (which include band programs) do not receive any state or city funding.

The band parents at each school work hard to provide an immeasurable benefit to so many of our city's kids. Each high school has a band parent association that operates independently, ensuring they are supporting their unique program for their school to the best of their ability. Each year, they bootstrap themselves through multiple fundraisers, grant applications and often cover expenses out-of-pocket for necessities such as, purchasing or renting instruments, instrument maintenance, uniforms, sheet music, supplies, and travel etc.

It is our hope that we can lessen the burden of time spent on various fundraisers with an equitable push for all city school programs while also giving band students the opportunity to develop community leadership skills, volunteerism to prepare for college scholarships and learn from the live performance and event planning side of the music business.

By lessening the financial burden on the parents and students, we hope to give more students the opportunity to join and stay in band and more accessibility to private lessons.

WHY CHILL FEST?

DID YOU KNOW? Quantaphonics has 13 band members and ALL of their core original members (over half of the band) are alumni of Huntsville City Schools band programs?! This is their chance to GIVE BACK to the community which enabled them to pursue their dreams in music!

The benefits of music education extend far beyond the band room and offer young individuals the chance to learn lifelong skills such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, creative thinking, and self confidence.

THIS IS OUR FUTURE. Not to mention that music also improves student performance in other areas of academia and enhances brain development.

It is our hope that you will join us in making this vision a reality!
